If you’re weighing your options for bachelorette party destinations, we’re going to volunteer Austin, TX for the top of your list and here’s why: amazing weather most of the year (minus summer heat), an affordable and approachable bar scene, tons of culture and quirkiness, and so many fun activities to keep you and your bachelorette gals busy! Plus, Austin is perfect if you’re looking for nightlife but you’re not into a hardcore party scene.
While you’re planning your visit, we have a few helpful tips for you! Spring time is definitely the best time to visit because the weather is warm day and night, but not too hot yet! Plus, Spring brings Austin’s Hill Country alive with fields of bluebonnets in full bloom. Hill Country is about 30 minutes outside of Austin, and is totally worth the drive for the gorgeous photo op!
If you’re looking for Austin’s nightlife, your best bets will be Rainey Street and 6th Street. Rainey Street is cute and quirky, and each bar has more personality than the last! 6th Street, on the other hand, is more like Bourbon Street in New Orleans! We have a few recommendations from both areas, but if you’re looking for one vibe or the other, make sure to choose the right area!
Ok, now that you have a couple of tips to get you started, let’s get into planning your actual Austin bachelorette party itinerary!
Places to Eat
Austin is definitely one of the top foodie destinations of the South, so if you love food, you’re in for a treat! First up on our recommendation list is Velvet Taco, a street taco hotspot inspired by global cuisines. Plus, pick up one (or a few) of their frozen margs while you’re at it!
When you’re in the mood for something a little more classy, head to the vintage-inspired Eberly. Their vibe screams vintage-sunroom-meets-old-library, is there anything better than that?! Not only will the stunning decor make you swoon, but their New American menu is delicious and the cocktails are super fancy! Oh, and did we mention they have a rooftop bar as well?
Finally, Hillside Farmacy is perfect for a chic brunch! You and your bachelorette ladies can enjoy mimosas and Bloody Marys inside or on the patio of this old-timey-turned-modern spot! We love that it used to be an actual pharmacy, and that the restaurant is dedicated to honoring its important history. Don’t worry, the farm-to-table fresh menu is absolutely amazing too! No matter where you dine, you need some fun bachelorette accessories with you! Our Texas-themed bachelorette cowgirl hats are the perfect way to show off!
Places to Drink
Now that we’ve taken care of the food, let’s get to the fun part– where to drink! As we mentioned above, 6th Street is more of a classic nightlife feel, while Rainey Street is more quirky and fun! First up, Lenoir Winegarden is the place to go for that upscale, farmhouse feel. With an amazing wine list and a beautiful outdoor patio, sip champagne under the stars with your girlfriends and celebrate! Their menu is full of fresh, seasonal Texas food, so you really can’t go wrong here!
Midnight Cowboy on 6th, one of Austin’s oldest speakeasies, is everything you’d expect from a brothel-turned-bar speakeasy spot! It’s packed full of charm, and the drinks list is to-die-for! Want some live music and dancing?
The Container Bar on Rainey Street is a one-of-a-kind bar made of seven shipping containers with a live DJ every weekend! The vibes here are so fun and laid back, so you and all your gals can let loose and have a blast. Don’t forget some matching bachelorette party crowns before you head out on the town!
Places to Stay
There are so many amazing Austin neighborhoods to choose from when deciding where to stay! If you have a large group for your celebration, consider renting a place on VRBO, Airbnb, etc. to get the most bang for your buck! Otherwise, here are some of our favorite hotels.
Hotel Ella, a boutique hotel in a Greek-revival style mansion from the 20’s, is absolutely stunning and even features a pool deck filled with cute cabanas!
Hotel VanZandt is part of the Kimpton hotel family, and is conveniently located in the Rainey district. Rated as the #1 Hotel in Texas by Conde Nast (a pretty big accolade if you ask us), this hotel is equal parts luxury and quirkiness! Don’t forget to check out the rooftop pool while you’re there, which has incredible views of the Downtown Austin skyline.
Looking to splurge? Not only is The W Hotel stunning, but it has a super unique living room-type feel to its lobby, complete with a record room and a tequila bar! Sign us up! So… if you’re still asking yourself what there is to do in Austin, we’re getting to it because there’s truly something for everyone and every vibe in this city. Want to enjoy unique art and culture from Texas? Austin has an outdoor mural project called Vibrant City, which doubles for some amazing Insta photo backdrops!
Get out of the heat and visit some art museums, like The Contemporary Austin at the Jones Center or the Blanton Museum of Art. We also love Big Medium Studio, which is a non-profit dedicated to supporting all forms of art throughout Texas.
If you’re looking for more or a relaxing, spa-vibe for your bachelorette party weekend, look no further than Away Austin Spa and Spa Sway, both incredible spas in the city with a wide variety of treatments available. We also love Barton Springs Pool, which is an outdoor natural hot spring, for something a little more unique! One downside- no alcohol permitted here!
